‘Introspections’ is an Amsterdam based sextet, founded in Summer 2020 by drummer Ilia Rayskin. The group blends the rhythmic language of Folk music (think: Cuba, Morocco), Hiphop and Contemporary Jazz with adventurous harmonic language inspired by Contemporary Classical Music, while delivering it with Punk Rock attitude. This melting-pot of styles and the unique instrumentation, incorporating Vibraphone and Synthesisers bring a fresh sound to the Dutch musical landscape, with the aim to break conventional musical boundaries. The title ‘Introspections’ comes from the idea that each piece is inspired by a personal experience/reflection of the bandleader. Expect intense energy and an original sound, that will keep you on the edge of your seat, as well as give you some food for the mind.

Unbox Yourself
It seems to me that too often we're inclined to define something or someone, especially ourselves, based only on a few experiences we've had. Why does there need to be a box in the first place? This piece is dedicated to my life philosophy, which is to continuously challenge my comfort zone and grow as a human being: unboxing myself.

Arco-Íris
This piece is a dedication to synesthesia or similar experiences. Arco-Íris is the Portuguese word for rainbow. Many of the chords in this piece reminded me of a rainbow, hence the title. In fact, to me the first chord of this composition is the most rainbow sounding thing I’ve ever heard.
