INtrospections

Introspections is an Amsterdam based sextet formed by drummer Ilia Rayskin, playing impressionistic compositions. Jazz/avant garde with harmonies from contemporary classical music and rhythms from hip hop and traditional music.

MIDI Studies

Encouraged by my relatively recent discovery of Conlon Nancarrow’s music, I’ve been writing these studies for MIDI piano. Each study is generated from one (!) ‘melody’, using transposition and canonic displacement, allowing me to experiment with concepts ranging from polytonality to rhythmic frameworks. The resulting body of work contains 20 studies. “MIDI Studies” is out now on DecodeTheseNotes.

Liva Dumpe Quintet

Līva Dumpe Quintet is led by vocalist and composer Līva, who has collected her strongest emotional experiences and put them into musical forms. The music balances between chamber-like texture using voice, flute, double bass, and rough, dynamic bursts in guitar and drum parts. Impressionistic, watercolor-like harmonies contrast the more experimental sounds and texts. Finalists of the Keep an Eye International Jazz award 2022, the quintet has announced themselves as a promising, innovative band with a tameless sound and the ability to take the listener on a spiritual trip to the meadows and forests of Latvia.

Matteo Mazzu’s tumult

Tumult is an international quintet put together by bassist Matteo Mazzù, with some emerging creative musicians from Amsterdam. Somewhere between modern jazz band and post-rock act, Tumult combines daring melodies with soaring atmospheric landscapes and double guitar attacks.

Fabien vuattoux ‘Spear/Sparrows’

From furious rock riffs to impressionistic melodies, this band draws inspiration from jazz to more contemporary forms. Musically they cannot be put in a box.

Februarist

‘Februarist’ is an Amsterdam based quartet led by Ilia Rayskin. The title ‘Februarist’ is derrived from the term ‘Februarism’ coined by russian avant-garde artist Kazimir Malevich. The music is an homage to the abstract, inspired by the avant-garde artists of the early 20th century.

Matteo Mazzu - Bass, Antonio Mariano Moreno Glazkov - Trumpet, Hristo Goleminov - Tenor Saxophone, Ilia Rayskin - Drums & Compositions
